La British Academy ha svelato i risultati del primo turno di votazioni per tutte le 25 categorie dei BAFTA Film Awards 2024, con due thriller molto diversi tra loro in testa alla lista dei lungometraggi selezionati. “Emilia Pérez” di Jacques Audiard, thriller musicale in lingua spagnola presentato in concorso a Cannes, è in testa con 15 nomination, tra cui miglior film, regista, attrice protagonista e tre nella lista delle attrici non protagoniste. Nel frattempo Conclave, il thriller papale di Focus Features di Edward Berger ambientato in Vaticano, ne ha 14, tra cui miglior film, regista e attore protagonista per Ralph Fiennes.

Più in basso, un gruppo compatto di film include The Substance, The Brutalist e A Complete Unknown con 11, Wicked e Dune: Parte Due con 10 e Anora e Il Gladiatore 2 con nove. Tutti, ad eccezione de Il Gladiatore 2, sono nella longlist dei migliori film. Tra le assenze eccellenti, troviamo Maria di Pablo Larrain o La stanza accanto di Pedro Almodovar. L’elenco completo delle nomination sarà annunciato il 15 gennaio, con la cerimonia dei BAFTA Film Awards che si terrà il 16 febbraio alla Royal Festival Hall di Londra.
