Blue Moon di Richard Linklater, con Ethan Hawke e Margaret Qualley, e Dreams di Michel Franco con Jessica Chastain sono in lizza per la 75a edizione del Festival del cinema di Berlino. La giuria di quest’anno sarà presieduta dal regista di May December Todd Haynes. Blue Moon, che vede la partecipazione anche di Bobby Cannavale e Andrew Scott, è un progetto in gestazione da tempo che racconta gli ultimi giorni di Lorenz Hart del team di autori di canzoni Rodgers & Hart. Il film è già stato acquisito da Sony Pictures Classics. Dreams riunisce Franco con Chastain dopo Memory del 2023. Il film vede Isaac Hernández nel ruolo di Fernando, un giovane ballerino messicano che sogna di essere riconosciuto a livello internazionale e di vivere negli Stati Uniti. Chastain interpreta la sua amante, una persona dell’alta società e filantropa.
Altri titoli degni di nota in concorso sono Hot Milk, il film d’esordio dell’acclamata sceneggiatrice Rebecca Lenkiewicz (Anche io) con Emma Mackey, Fiona Shaw e Vicky Krieps; e If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, il film di Mary Bronstein con Rose Byrne, A$AP Rocky e Conan O’Brien. Anche due film cinesi faranno il loro debutto mondiale alla Berlinale: Girls on Wire (“Xiang fei de nv hai”), diretto da Vivian Qu, e Living the Land (“Sheng xi zhi di”), diretto da Huo Meng.
