La cerimonia di premiazione degli Academy Awards, che avrà luogo a Los Angeles il 12 marzo 2023, vede sfumare la partecipazione di “Nostalgia” – film italiano di Mario Martone, con Pierfrancesco Favino – che non rientra tra i candidati nella categoria Miglior film internazionale agli Oscar 2023.

Ebbene sì, purtroppo il dramma Nostalgia, con protagonista Pierfrancesco Favino, non è rientrato nella rosa dei candidati nella categoria Miglior film internazionale, che include i titoli che non siano girati almeno per la metà dei dialoghi in lingua inglese e che siano prodotti fuori dagli Stati Uniti. L’Italia vede quindi sfumare la possibilità di concorrere nella categoria alla 95ª edizione dei premi Oscar, che si terrà il 12 marzo 2023. Mario Martone, regista del film, un dramma girato a Napoli, non è rientrato nella shortlist della categoria. La storia era stata presentata al Festival di Cannes, ed è tratta dall’omonimo romanzo di Ermanno Rea.
Una grande delusione per chi sperava che Martone avrebbe raccolto il testimone di Paolo Sorrentino, uscito trionfante con La grande bellezza nel 2014. A riaccendere qualche speranza per l‘Italia, vi è però il nome della regista Alice Rohrwacher, con Le Pupille, prodotto dal Premio Oscar Alfonso Cuarón e finanziato da Walt Disney, che spunta nella ridotta lista dei cortometraggi live action.
