La Songwriters Hall of Fame ha annunciato i nomi dei suoi eletti nel 2026: tre cantautori o team di cantautori non esecutivi (Walter Afanasieff, Terry Britten e Graham Lyle e Christopher “Tricky” Stewart) e quattro cantautori o team di cantautori esecutivi (Gene Simmons e Paul Stanley dei KISS, Kenny Loggins, Alanis Morissette e Taylor Swift).

Quest’ultima, come al solito, ha anche stabilito un paio di record. A trentasei anni, è la donna più giovane ad essere mai stata ammessa nella SHOF. È, inoltre, la prima artista a passare dallo Starlight Award (un premio per un cantautore promettente, che risale al 2004) allo status di membro a pieno titolo.

In passato, Alanis Morissette era stata nominata per la canzone dell’anno per aver co-scritto You Oughta Know, ma non aveva vinto. Aveva ottenuto, invece, i Juno Awards come cantautrice dell’anno sia nel 1996 che nel 1997. L’annuncio dell’investitura di Simmons e Stanley, infine, arriva appena un mese dopo che i KISS hanno ricevuto il Kennedy Center Honors, tre mesi dopo la morte di Ace Frehley, chitarrista solista e membro fondatore della band.
