Anche quest’anno, sono stati assegnati i Tony Awards, i prestigiosi premi dedicati al musical e al teatro. La cerimonia si è tenuta al Radio City Music Hall di New York, divisa in due sezioni: i Tony Awards: Act One, presentati da Laura Benanti e Tituss Burgess, e la trasmissione televisiva principale dei Tony, condotta da P!nk,. Leslie Odom Jr. ha cantato Without You dal musical Rent durante il segmento “In Memoriam”, che ha omaggiato artisti del calibro di Cleo Laine, Robert Redford e Robert Duvall.

P!nk, Queen Latifah (che ha interpretato la Matrona “Mama” Morton nell’adattamento cinematografico del 2002 di Rob Marshall), Whitney Leavitt (che attualmente interpreta Roxie Hart a Broadway), Dylan Mulvaney (che ha recentemente concluso le repliche di Six a Broadway), Alex Newell (vincitore del Tony Award 2023 e veterano di Broadway), Julianne Hough (che ha presentato il pre-show dei Tony Awards 2022) e molti altri hanno partecipato a un medley delle canzoni più famose del musical Chicago, che ha mandato il pubblico in delirio.
